The gallstones are solid formations of mineral salts and other substances which crystallize. These gallstones may have various sizes, from a few milimeters to the size of a kidney. These crystallizations cause lots of pain, because they can pass through the urinary tracts.
What are the main causes of the appearance of these Gallstones?
Little fluid intake, inactivity and obesity are some of the factors that lead the appearance of the gallstones. However, the formation of these gallstones can be a genetic problem.
What are the symptoms?
The symptoms are also very varied. They can be intense pain in the lateral area of the back, difficulty while urinating, vomiting, fever, blood in the urine, among others.
What are the possible treatments?
The most common treatment consists in the ingestion of analgesics, by orally or intravascularly, and the ingestion of many liquids. There are also used drugs that promote the relaxation of the urinary system, and some others that help dissolving certain components of the gallstone. Sometimes, a surgery is necessary, or, if not, the patient has a second choice, the lithotripsy, which consists in subjecting the patient to shock waves that destroy the gallstones, making their output by the urine easier.
